Actually, I believe the next ep's in two weeks. But yeah, that episode was full of big surprises. Totally didn't see any of that coming. I agree about the epic. Very much deserved. Also, I <3 Libby, it was so awesome to see her back.

No, I think we're getting the next ep and then a 2-week wait. Pretty sure that means there's gonna be a huge cliffhanger. :/

Oh my God.
This episode was great, maybe even as good as the last.
The reunion finally happened. Only took them a season and thirteen episodes, but it happened.
Jack seemingly joining Locke at the end was a great cliffhanger.
Disappointed at the lack of Team Richard, though.
No way Desmond's dead though. I don't think a single main character has ever been killed offscreen, and now wouldn't be the time to start.

Jin & Sun Finally! Yeah, Desmond's definitely not dead. I really hope they show what transpired though. I didn't think the cliffhanger was terribly shocking, seeing that he was already with John. But why didn't Jack just get off the boat with the rest of them and go his own way? Either way, really digging this season. *thumbsup*

Sneaky Widmore. I knew he wouldn't let them leave! I happy with where Jack's character is going though. He's becoming more like Locke every day, haha.
Also: bombs cant kill the monster!

... That's at least three more down, possibly another. This was a great episode, and I loved Sun and Jin's death scene... Sayid's sacrifice was pretty great too. ...I'm not even quite sure what happened to Frank, but he's probably dead, considering what happened to him before the sub sank. At least he had some great one liners before dying. ...And where on earth is Team Richard? >.>

Yeah, you'd have thought they'd had blown up the plane before all of them got there...
But yeah, very sad episode. Makes you hate Flocke all the more. I hope Frank didn't die off-screen though... he was one of the best characters.

Something tells me Frank is still alive.
Last night's episode is my favorite of the season so far. Jack's character was absolutely amazing.
So why do you guys think Widmore set the plane to blow up like that? Wasn't he trying to protect the candidates? The only explanation I can think of is that he intended for Flocke to go in alone. But then why did Flocke stop them from using the plane? If he wanted them to all die he could have just set the bomb off.

It's possible Widmore set it as a last resort, in case they were about to actually leave the island on the plane with MiB.
As a side note, I think next week's episode might be MiB-centric, after looking at the promo and sneak peeks. Just the promo is a huge giveaway, though.

The promo contains no new footage.

Frank's not dead, a character as awesome as him deserves a proper death scene.

Yeah, I agree. Unless a corpse is shown, a main character is not dead on LOST. And sometimes, not even then.
And yeah, the promo looks like MiB in woman form... interesting.
I don't know about the plane though... I would think that Flocke would survive a plane bombing, so only the candidates would end up dying, which is bad for everyone. Maybe he thought a submarine bombing would be more devastating? I don't think it would be though.
Or maybe for some reason, Flocke can't leave by submarine, and so he wanted to destroy that but keep the plane intact. Seems like Widmore would have destroyed the plane himself in that case.

Pretty sure MiB never intended to bring the Candidates with him anyway, considering the lengths he went to to ensure they never made it off of the submarine. I'd say it's probably just a last resort to ensure MiB never got off the island, only Widmore does a crappy job of hiding stuff.
We won't know until we hear from Widmore again, I guess.
The promo does contain some new footage. We've never seen Jacob and MiB playing a game, for one thing. Most of the rest is probably archive from The Incident and Pilot, though.

Ohh, I haven't seen the promo yet. I was talking about the sneak peek.
Edit: Ok, second sneak peek confirms that the next episode is about Jacob/Flocke's backstory.

Well, Hurley's podcast says that Frank is dead. And they've finished filming, so I'm assuming he knows.

I really hope that Frank is alive, but I don't see why Jorge would lie... he'd leave it ambiguous.

Note to self... spoiler tags dont load when the internet is being laggy... And I called it![/spoilers]
But why risk reading something crucial, especially with the season finale so close? Stay off those spoiler site, man!

I read a few mild spoiler - mostly just centricity and episode titles, although I did read a few casting reports. Mostly just stuff about which actors are returning to film some scenes.

Same here, I only read minor spoilers, like who the next episode is about and such. I just saw that on Reddit's LOST section because I was really curious about Frank.

How many episodes left until the finale? I still think they need to develop Miles as a character. He's cool and all, but what was it like when he first discovered his powers? Has there been any significant instances throughout his life? Why does he need 2.4 million dollars exactly?
Frank's character I could live without more info. He's cool and all, but that's really it. Not too interested in his backstory.
Just hoping Ben kills them all in the end, haha. Just kidding.

Only 2 more and then the Finale. ;_;
Also, I don't think we'll have time to go into the backstories anymore (except Jacob/Flocke of course), but I really do want to see the Richard/Miles/Ben team do some important stuff and not just die (I have a feeling they will die by the end though).
And didn't they show him discover his powers when he was a kid? I like Miles, but I think anything else would be spin-off material.

Wasn't it 2.4 million dollars because that was double what Widmore offered him?

Huh, that must have gone completely over my head. Sucks that there will never be a Miles episodes, but whatevers. Edit: Haha, I just checked lostwiki. I remember his flashbacks now. The only questions left is why Widmore left the island and what Ben did off the island. I seem to remember him having numerous passports and foreign money, and the hotel in the desert seemed to know him, right? And why does Widmore know so much about the Candidates and Flocke while Ben doesn't? Moar edits: Ok, so Widmore was forced to leave because he was leaving the island and had a daughter, Penny, with someone from off the island. He broke "the rules". But Ben was involved with this somehow. My guess is he probably made it public. What bothers me now is how the heck Richard lost communication with Jacob so that he didn't even know Ben couldn't talk to him in Jacob's cabin. Then Jacob just plain left, leaving The Man in Black to swoop in, still ignore Ben, and talk to Locke.

Sooo, what did you guys think of last night's episode? I thought that it was good, but not nearly what I was expecting. A bit too much "magic" and not enough answered questions.
But it did show us that the conflict between Jacob/MiB is more complex than good vs. evil. I'm curious although somewhat wary at where this takes us.
Also, what do you guys think about the smoke monster at the end? Was MiB being thrown into the "light" the creation of the smoke monster as his body was ripped from his soul, a.k.a. "worse than death"? Or was the smoke monster already a being and he has now claimed MiB's body as a potential physical form, as he did with Locke. I know the former seems to be the most obvious, but who killed all the villagers? Perhaps even their mother was a smoke monster form.
IMO, this episode brought forward more questions than it answered, which is not good when we have like 2 episodes left.
