monstrman I have suspicion of MF because of his post restriction, but he could be town or mafia. To the second question, I am not that suspicious of him though.

Ernie, to answer your question: I'm against soft claiming in this instance, but that's because I haven't watched the movie. I'd be better off asking you the same question: Seeing as you have seen the movie, do you think that people's alignments would be clear from the name of their characters? Are there many ambiguous roles? If your answer is no, then I see no reason for it. Watch the movie! You'll like it, trust us. Based on the movie, the alignments are not all clear. There are some that would be clearly mafia, but anyone else is fair game for being Town. People's roles could be somewhat derived from the characters though, so it might not be the best plan. @soft & kira: Thanks, but those were just conversation starters. Care to comment more about the game? @npr, kcat, & Malick: You guys skipped my questions (and a few others didn't comment on voting). monstrman: There's not much to go on yet, but I'd say NPR so far. The only thing he commented on was the fact that mafia fake post restrictions too. As for MF, he could be faking a post restriction, but he's risking himself by hinting at what his character is in the game. That's pretty much claiming on the first day, so it just gives us all information from the beginning. I'd say we should just wait and see based on his gameplay.

Edit: I missed NPR's vote. That relieves some suspicion, Malick is one of my suspicions too.
Also, when you use the vote tags, you just have to put their name. like [vote]<name>[/vote] produces Vote: name.

NPR: What do you think about the playstyles of ramen and UM? Is it possible to read in between the lines into people's posts and guess their intentions? I'm not sure yet. I haven't quite nailed down their playstyles 100% yet. Reading inbetween the lines to look at someone's intentions might work, but it might not. For instance, town members usually make their intentions known through their posts. When a mafiat posts, they sometimes make it look like they have town intentions, or they can make it look like they have no intentions at all. Voting should be used on either your top suspect (whether or not there is proof, hence the term gut feeling) or on one of your suspects if it looks like they are gonna be lynched.

I thought Fezzik had the bad lisp, but when I rewatched the movie I realized that the priest has the lisp.

You first said you thought he was town... but now you say you're suspicious of him? It doesn't feel right. Not to mention that I brought up you being suspicious before because of you automatically accepting that he was town without a second thought.
Also @ernie: I don't really think that if he were to fake a post restriction, he would fake a post restriction of his own character. I feel it's either genuine, or it's a mafia fakeclaim that he was given and he is using that to try and pass himself off as town. Either way it's of relative note and we need to keep an eye on stuff involving him and people's interactions with him.
Can we get a mod prod on people who have 3 or less posts? I asked a question and would like to get an answer before the day is out
I feel like after we get the inactives to speak up a bit about who they might be suspicious of, gut feeling or not, we can get things going a bit more. If nothing else, we simply vote the people who refuse to answer the questions. I'd like to think careless mafiats skim the topic rather than actually reading it, so avoiding answering questions can be a big tell. Although townies can be careless too, but the more a scum talks, the more they dig their own grave.

Also, one last question for the whole game: What are your stances on day one lynching? Do you think day one lynching today would be a good strategy?
As for me, I think day one lynching is ALWAYS helpful, even when it's a mislynch. Mafia will jump at the chance to mislynch someone, and that narrows the list of people we need to look at down from the whole town to generally just a couple people. If we DON'T day one lynch, I feel like we lose a lot of momentum and also give the mafia an intense lead with a free kill.
If we don't lynch people, we will fall into the trap that I like to call "repetitive day 1 syndrome" In which we accomplish about as much all game as we would during day one shenanigans. I've witnessed this effect many times, and it only takes one lynch to get rid of it so things can get moving, be that on day 1 or any other. I just prefer to get rid of it on day 1 so that we don't have to waste our time twiddling our thumbs for another day phase.
At the very least, I would like to get some suspects down so that people have a general idea of what they want to do tonight.

Okay, you know what...
Vote: Malick
Not so much for getting mixed up about characters / flipping around suspicions without justification, but for posting a lot without much content. As monstrman's demonstrated, it's a pretty easy way to make yourself look good when someone counts up posts to check for inactives, but you're still contributing very little.
Likewise:
FOS: Kcaltrain
for showing up to acknowledge his silence and then doing nothing about it.

I'm sad now because the rest of the people will bandwagon, and I will be gone.
@batman I changed from him being completely town because Fezzik=Hero. How do you know that the priest is not hired by humperdinck?

How do you know that the priest is not hired by humperdinck? It's not always a good idea to assume alignment by role. What if the mafia roles are actually the "hero" characters? There are less of them, it'd certainly be easier.

People change their minds all the time in this game, or are wrong about people being town/mafia so I'm not really surprised Malick's being suspicious on MF all of a sudden. I'm going to stop trying to persuade you guys from lynching me. It'll make me look scummy. Although this seems like a weird thing to say. =/ The only character that has a lisp in the movie is the priest, and either MF could be town or just faking it. Also I'm not sure why he's suspicious of me since I haven't been posting that much. He's on the top of my list, so I'll just cast a vote: Vote: MF Kcal should try harder.

Your first day lynching post.... day one lynching could get a mason killed? Are you claiming mason? Are you just saying that a lynch has a chance to kill someone we don't want it to? Also, I would like to use this game as an opportunity to try out a new playstyle. From now on, if I find someone kind of suspicious, I will vote for them, because I want them dead. Going off slight hunches CAN get you ahead in this game, but lots of times you end up with crossed wires. Since I'm always a bit too wary of this, I'm going to try changing it. That being said...
