Let's play a little game-like thing I've invented, though it's mainly to learn cool stuff about other people's tastes. When you read the contents of the following spoiler tag, try and think of your top five favorites, or at least five of your favorites quickly and post them. Then after you've listed five, you can give reasons if you want or comment on other people's quickfire lists. You don't have to spoiler your lists, but I did to try and encourage readers to post their stuff first. Note that you should try to post your own without reading others' first (so you could use the reply button at the top of the topic to help). If enough people show interest, I'll post a new challenge at some point (most, if not all, will be entertainment related). Ready...? NON-ANIMATED FILMS +Waking Ned Divine +The Princess Bride +Rear Window +The Blues Brothers +Jaws

If I had to choose, I'd pick a drama or horror over comedy. But that's just me.

Ok, I'll just put a brief description of my choices that you probably haven't heard of.
Waking Ned Divine (or Waking Ned in U.K.)- (comedy-drama) It is discovered by two friends that one of the residents in their small Irish town won the all-national lottery drawing. This man was Ned Divine, who, in a rush of joy and excitement, died of a heart attack upon learning of his fortune. What ever should be done about the money? If you haven't heard of it, you're not alone. The film is quite funny, and features some amazing scenic work, as well as an excellent musical score (with such humorous tracks as The Lotto Man Cometh.
Rear Window-(suspense-mystery) A classic Hitchcock suspense film starring James Stewart (It's a Wonderful Life, Vertigo) and Grace Kelly. This is one of those quintessential films that pretty much everyone should see, particularly if you're fond of mystery films or Hitchcock, or Stewart (one of my favorite actors). A photographic journalist is confined to his small apartment after having one of his legs smashed by a race car. All he has to do all day is be cared for by a healthcare worker and his girlfriend (Kelly) and watch the activities of his neighbors through the apartment's rear window, which overlooks a quadrangle and other apartment buildings. But when one household's strange activities draws his attention, he begins to suspect a dark plot across the way.
The Blues Brothers (comedy)-Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi star as the titular characters (taken from their long running Saturday Night Live routine) in a theatrical tribute to comedy and rhythm&blues music. The two brothers, united after Belushi's character is released from prison, find that they need to raise the land-lease money for the nuns at their childhood orphanage, and the only way to do that (short of stealing it) is to reunite the members of their band "The Fabulous Blues Brothers" scattered across Chicago and perform again. Not only does this film feature classic music, countless cameos (Stephen Spielberg, James Brown, John Candy, Ray Charles, Frank Oz), iconic comedy, Illinois Nazis, and the former world record for most police cars destroyed in the filming of a motion picture (surpassed only by the less successful "Blues Brothers 2000"), but it is also an excellent piece of American film history.

I've seen Rear Window, that one was pretty good, very suspenseful.
Has everybody seen Equilibrium? I don't have a long description, but it's about a futuristic society where emotions are banned (by means of special pills) and they have a lot of soldiers trained to deal with those who rebel. This one high-ranking officer slowly decides to go against the society to take down the leader. It's very cool, like gun martial arts, a very fun movie.

OH, I saw the end. And supposedly, Ultraviolet is set in the same universe: same martial arts style, same director. Have you seen Disturbia? It was kinda based on Rear Window. Pan's Labrinyth: Drama-Fantasy. Won the Foreign Film Award - in Spanish. About a girl who moved to the countryside with her mum to be with her step-dad, who is a Captain fighting rebels and is extremely cruel. She finds out she's supposedly the reincarnation of a fairy Princess but to be back with her 'real' family, she has to perform three dangerous tasks. In between these tasks are scenes showing the character's in-depth personality and the fight against the rebels. Pretty sad movie. Chicago: Musical about a woman who seeks fame and kills her extra-marital lover. She gets jailed but gets famous..... and she is sentenced to death, so she enlists the help of a lawyer. The music is mostly jazz. Shoot 'Em Up: Action-Possible comedy? Same director of 300, I think. A guy basically goes around with guns defending himself and a prostitute and a baby he saved. Like Jet Li can fight with everything around him, the gun-man can use everything around him to his advantage. The movie is funny because it's so ridiculous. But it's kinda cool at the same time. Sideways: Drama-Comedy. About how a guy (Paul Giamatti) with a pretty depressing childhood goes on a road trip with a friend, as a sort of bachelor's party for his friend. They basically go to try different vineyards in California/San Francisco (I can't remember), hence the name Sideways (a bottle of wine knocked over). Giamatti finds love and stuff. It's a movie that's nice to just sit back and watch. Funny bits at times and kinda sweet. Rent: Another musical. Based on the bohemian life. How bohemians struggle to pay for their rent because their careers are mainly arts (music, dancing, filming). Pretty long movie and it's pretty open to homosexuality. There are two gays, one lesbian and one bisexual. Out of 7 main characters. I'm not good at summaries, but I hope it's sufficient.
