Umm, "video-y" would technically mean "visual". Maybe you mean, not as synthetic? But yeah, most of the video game music is synthetic. I don't mind though, because usually the melody's what matters to me.

I mean video-y as in video game-y.
Yeah, I actually prefer non-synthetic (I don't know the word?), though sometimes I don't mind. But usually I prefer.... real (?) music as in real instruments.
I don't think I'm voicing myself in the proper way.

Has anyone heard "What I'm Made Of" from Sonic Heroes? I've never played the game, but I think it's pretty cool. Everytime I hear it, I think of putting it to Death Note video clips...

oh, has anyone heard of the Postal Service? Same singer from Death Cab for Cutie, except more.... electric-y. Techno sounds. I think. Whatever. Sounds electrical.

Yeah, I like Such Great Heights by Postal Service. ^_^ And I guess my favorite bands are The Pillows (Japanese alternative rock), The Hives, The White Stripes, Radiohead, and Thrice. I've been listening to Jack's Manequin's "Dark Blue" lately as well. Dark Blue youtube.com/watch?v=JDScNjxlScE

I've already introduced both Hellfire and redearth to them, and somehow I've missed this topic for the past... ever. Of course, I'm talking about the distinctively remarkable Tally Hall. Some of their best songs: Banana ManGood DayTaken for a RideSpring and a Storm

Actually, most of their songs suck. I'll never admit to liking them in real life. >_>

HAhaha, I've heard one song. And even then, it was crap/ok Um. I don't generally like rap, but some hip-hop is good to dance too... like Flo-Rida's "Low". Catchy beat. Who do you mainly listen to? I listen mainly to Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service, The Cat Empire, Ok Go, Orson, Corinne Bailey Rae, Snow Patrol, Scouting for Girls and random good dance songs.

Have you heard of the actress Zooey Deschanel? (sp?) Anywho, she was in Elf, The Hitchhiker Movie as Tricia, The Good Girl and Failure to Launch. She paired up with an indie guitarist, M. Ward, to form She and Him. They are very country-ish/folk-ish. Technically, they're indie-country, but I have no idea what that is... I generally avoid country, but I'm happy to say that they remind me a lot of Norah Jones; jazzy-country, no violins and annoying yee-has. So here: She and Him - Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtlO0RXktloIt has a really weird video :/

She's pretty and the music is nice, but that video was disturbing. I could care less for music videos. I'd rather watch people playing the music.

Hahaha, strangely, when I watched the video and then listened to it without the video, I found that the video was too distracting and actually made it less enjoyable

The Beatles are good. Oh, and Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" is my favorite song on Guitar Hero III.

My favorite band ever is The Pixies. Followed very closely by Radiohead. Other bands I like a lot are REM, Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Folds Five, Nirvana, The Fratellis, Muse, The Hives, Primus, The Dead Kennedys, Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, Cake, Beck, Weezer, Paul Simon, and The White Stripes.
I also like some rap music. If you say you'll listen to "anything but rap", I think you're making a broad generalization about rap and you're not being open minded. I agree that almost all current-gen hip hop and rap, besides groups like the Gorillaz, is total garbage (i.e. Soulja Boy, Kanye, Lil Wayne, etc.) but if you go back a little to the 80s and 90s you can find some good stuff. Run-DMC incorporated a lot of rock elements, as did Public Enemy (my favorite rap group). Also, their lyrics (especially Public Enemy's) were a lot better. They weren't about ho's and guns. In fact, they were mostly about how violence is NOT cool (but they managed to not sound like dorks in the process) and how equality for everyone is awesome. Another group worth mentioning is De La Soul. They had a lot of jazzy, funky, and bluesy instrumentals and once again managed to have great lyrics.
