I'm starting to think I'm no good at mafia. In nearly every game I play, I make stupid mistakes, nearly get lynched, and forced to roleclaim. Maybe mafia just isn't for me.

I remember playing at least once with you on mafiacorps where that didn't happen...it just takes practice. I say/do stupid shit all the time, haha...just look at the end of CYOC on this site! If it's something you have fun doing and/or want to improve in, keep at it. If you don't enjoy it, well, we'll miss playing with you, but you shouldn't force yourself to keep doing something you hate.

I enjoy mafia, but I'd like to get better. I've been in 6-7 games.

Then keep at it! i'd recommend playing more in chat, but I think the IRC died (this is where I say that we should have a skype gathering)...kingspore told me they were going to try thinstack again, but this was a couple weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since.
My other suggestion is to sign up for our bandwagons and minis, which you have so yay!
I've played ~20 games, and I can definitely tell you that you will have your ups and downs. Right now my town game is pretty bad. 6-7 isn't really a lot, especially if you die early as often as you say you do. So...yah.

Yeah, play some of the shorter games, that way if you mess up or lose, you have spent less time on them anyways so it's less stress in the long run; and besides, you can get more games played that way. Once you play more games, you get better at reading people, telling when they're lying or not, as well as what to do (and not do) to be a good townie or a good scum acting as townie.

Ooh! Another suggestion! Try looking for games thast you can replace into, it seems that a lot of the time you suffer from day 1 awkwardness. But when there's more than rvs to go on, you might have an easier time with the game.

What do you mean, more than rvs to go on?

At the very beginning, when there's very little evidence with which to draw conclusions, sometimes people can have trouble figuring out what to do (regardless of alignment). Whereas if you were to replace into a game later, you could read into more material and perhaps have an easier time getting a foothold in the game. Make sense?

VG, if it makes you feel better, look at how I play. It took me 7 years to learn to play like this

Heya VG, don't give up! I've been on this site for 5 years (ok, active for maybe one and a half/two years of that 5 years) and I've only won 4 games You win some, you lose some, but it's always fun no matter what!

Jerz, you're back!?
But yeah, if you enjoy the game, then keep playing it; no one can get mad at you for making mistakes.
