With 6 alive, it takes 4 to lynch.
Now that the crew had a good idea on who they could trust among themselves, they began to take action. Banding together, they made their way to GameGuy's bunk, where he had some weapons stashed. Puppyduck armed herself with a sword, and tossed a dagger to blrasmu, who caught it adeptly. GameGuy, favoring more heavy weaponry, pulled out his favorite machine gun, and handed the Captain and robbiecon revolvers. No sooner had they walked out the corridor into the cargo bay, they heard the blood-curdling battle cries of the savages running towards them. There were more of them than they had anticipated, and soon they were surrounded on all sides. GameGuy quickly parked himself and began firing his machine gun at the beasts who were closing in on them. CaptainPlanet emptied his revolver in the other direction, as did robbiecon, but still they kept coming, wielding grotesque blades of various sizes. CaptainPlanet was hit first, a huge gash on his side, and then another on his arm. Robbiecon and Puppyduck quickly pulled him behind the nearest crate and covered his wounds. GameGuy was successfully gunning down the invaders, but he was quickly running out of ammo. Suddenly, blrasmu grabbed Puppyduck's sword and she began to slash rapidly at each of them, parrying each and every attack with such graceful but skillful technique. The reavers were fierce, ruthless, and powerful, but they were no match for blrasmu's perfect form. In a few minutes they were all lying on the ground, not a single one still moving. Victoriously, the crew of Serenity stood up and made their way to the cockpit, where Wash was flying the ship. Sighing a breath of relief, as well as exhaustion, they sat down and buckled in. They were finally reaching a planet where they could resupply and rest; but that wasn't their home - that title belonged to the ship that they had fought and sweated blood to defend, that would provide them with adventures and journeys to strange and exciting new places for years to come - the Firefly, Serenity.

Role PMs and Night Actions to come in the next few days, so stick around! Thanks for playing, everyone!
Captain Planet: You are Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds, captain of the Serenity. As the Captain, you hold the last word when it comes to making decisions on your spaceship. During the Day, you may PM me before a lynch occurs (before the hammer vote). You can either make your vote count double if you think the lynch should go through or you can pardon a player if you do not support their lynch. You can not use both on the same Day, you can not use either ability on the same player twice, and you can not pardon yourself. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: This was basically a combined Double Voter + Mayor role. Originally, I was going to make Mal a Jack of All Trades, but I didn’t have any Day roles and probably too many blocking/killing roles already. I think I’m going to start going with that format for Double Votes, as it keeps the role somewhat anonymous. CP didn’t do too much during the game with his role, but he was always there as backup in case Townies went inactive. It was pretty funny that CaptainPlanet was the Captain though. |
Puppyduck: You are Inara Serra, a dignified Companion aboard the Serenity. As the Commuter, you have leased a shuttle to leave the ship whenever you please. Twice during the game, you may leave in the shuttle for the night and not be targeted by any night actions. Additionally, once during the game, you may bring along another player, who will also not be targeted by any actions; if they use an action that Night, it will target you instead. PM me with your night action choice (please PM “abstain” if you do not wish to use it). You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: This was actually a combined Commuter and Alien role. I added the “target you instead” part so that it wouldn’t be able to block the kill, just redirect it to herself. Puppyduck used it quite optimally to save robbiecon after he claimed. And he really did mislead the mafia with his Armor Detective Vig claim, they blocked PD when they should have blocked GG. |
Impereld/robbiecon: You are Simon Tam, a medical doctor aboard the Serenity. As the Doctor, you use your medical knowledge to treat wounds and save lives. During the Night, you may select one player to protect from being night-killed. You cannot protect yourself. PM me with your night action choice. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: Although Impereld wasn’t active during the Day, he DID send both his night actions, that’s why I didn’t replace him earlier. In fact, on Night 2 he saved PD’s life. Robbiecon didn’t have any successful protections, but he did participate in the lynches, which was important for the Town. I thought it was quite rash when robbie claimed so early, but it worked out thanks to PD’s action. |
kirawillwin/Kat T. Bard: You are Kaylee Frye, the Serenity’s mechanic. As the Recruiting Mason, you are the friendliest and most outgoing person on the ship. Once during the game, you may select another player to be masons with you. You may then talk with them privately through PM (or AIM, etc.) for the rest of the game. PM me with your choice during the Night. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: I really like putting masons in games, and Recruiting Masons allow for more strategy (and also less certainty). Kaylee was always going to be a recruiting mason, but it was unsure whether she’d be taken out to be used as a fake claim. I don’t know what all went on behind the scenes with PD, but I bet it was useful, at least in gaining trust for PD. |
GameGuy: You are Jayne Cobb, a mercenary aboard the Serenity. As the Mercenary, you use your brawn and weapon arsenal to maintain “public relations” on the ship. During the Night, you may either roleblock or kill another player. You must alternate between the two on consecutive nights, and if you abstain, you forfeit that ability for the night (block, abstain, block, etc.). PM me with your night action choice. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: In an attempt to make a limited vig and roleblocker, I combined the roles together as the Mercenary, which coincidentally is what Jayne was. GameGuy started off weak, but as he learned more through the game, he became one of the power players, pretty much taking down the mafia. |
monstrman: You are Zoe Washburne, second-in-command of the Serenity. As the Guardian, you are loyal and always ready to jump into danger to defend a fellow crew member. During the Night, you may guard another player. You will take any harmful actions from that player upon yourself (roleblocking, redirecting, etc.). If the player that you guard is targeted for death, there is a 50% chance you will die in their place, 25% chance that you will both live, and 25% chance that you will kill the attacker. PM me with your night action choice. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: Originally I had Zoe as a fake claim and Wash as a Rescuer (he flies down in his ship), but that didn’t really fit with the setting and Zoe was a battler anyways so Wash was out (sorry, he’s one of my favs too). This role put monstrman in a lot of danger, but at least the percent chances gave some incentive to actually use it. He almost guarded waehofen on N1, but the mafia blocked and silenced him. It was odd that he was targeted so early, but he is a good player. |
Doc: You are Mr. Universe, a techno-specialist, now aboard the Serenity. As the Watcher, you have rigged cameras throughout Serenity to keep watch on everyone on the ship. During the Night, you may choose one player to watch. You will see if any other person targets them that Night. PM me with your night action choice. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: And here we have the accidental MVP of the game. He essentially caught both Jamis and NPR in one night by watching CaptainPlanet (seemed those two were thinking the same). I was going to make this a limited Watcher, maybe only got 1 result, but since there was no Detective in the game, he became the main investigator. I also threw this role in as a means of getting minor characters in a more believable position for fake claims, since Mr. Universe is only in the movie. |
waehofen: You are Badger, an “honest businessman”, now aboard the Serenity. As the Businessman, you can hire freelancers to carry out a job for you in return for payment. During the Night, you can give a target to another player; if the target is successfully lynched the following Day, you will reward the player with the one-shot ability of your choice: Detection (alignment), Ouendan (extra action), or Armor (one night). PM me with your choice of player, their target, and the reward. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: I believe this was the last Town role that I came up with, and I was hoping that it would get used a lot more than it did, Badger was always a favorite Firefly “bad guy”. It might have given Badger/waehofen a more controlling role in the game, while still being ambiguous as to his alignment. In fact, I had him as a Miller, though there were very few ways he could be detected, including his own role. Too bad I didn’t get to see how this role worked out. |
blrasmu: You are River Tam, a runaway prodigy hiding aboard the Serenity. As the Sponge, you are a quick learner who can absorb new skills quite easily. At the end of each Day, if you voted at least once, you will learn a new one-shot ability. During the Night, you may choose to use any ONE of your abilities. Any abilities you have not used will be stored for later use. PM me with your night action choice. Be careful with revealing your role name; the mafia is looking for you specifically. You win when all threats to the Town are eliminated. | Comments: This was supposed to be a weak role that gradually grew into the most powerful role in the game, just like River in Firefly, a force to be reckoned for the Mafia. The mafia really WAS looking for River, Jubal to kidnap her and Dobson to give her name to the mafia, but Jamis was redirected to CP and WP didn’t detect her before blrasmu had claimed anyways. Blrasmu wasn’t really that active, in fact he didn’t vote a few of the days, so he didn’t get to exercise this role to its full potential. The abilities: 1: Hint Man, 2: Insomnia, 3: Detection, 4: Hider, 5: Copycat, 6: Magnet, 7: Fighter, 8: Brainshock |
Miracle Fassad: You are Saffron, a cunning con artist, now aboard the Serenity. As the Rogue Survivor, you use your seducing and thieving skills to complete your cons and get out alive. During the Night, you may thieve one player, blocking their ability and stealing it for yourself. You may use this ability once the following Night, OR you may steal a new ability. If you do not use the ability the following Night, it will be lost. If you must claim, the character Nandi is available, though you could try your own. You win if you are alive at the end of the game, regardless of the winning faction. | Comment: Saffron is another favorite “bad guy”, mostly because she’s hot, haha, but also clever. In the show she cons and thieves, but ultimately she works for herself, hence a Rogue Survivor. This was a pretty powerful role, in fact I was worried it would be too strong, but the Town took care of him quite early on. I feel like they would have fared better to use MF as a tool, but everything turned out alright. |
LordManiMani: You are the Reavers, a clan of uncivilized humans, now planning to pillage the Serenity and its crew. As the Apocalyptic Serial Killer, you are currently just a single stowaway carrying a signal that will soon bring more Reavers to depredate everyone aboard. On Night 3, the first batch of invaders will arrive and you can make one Night kill. This first kill will be a Janitored kill. Each consecutive Night, you may kill an additional player (two on Night 4, three on Night 5, etc.). You win if you kill every other player and survive. | Comment: In Firefly, the reavers are the nightmare that EVERYONE is afraid of. Thus, I wanted to make them a sort of Necromancer role. But instead of just setting a date til he wins, I thought I’d make it interesting and give him increasingly more kills. He was still effectively a Necromancer, but it gave the Town (and Mafia) a fair chance to fight back before they lost. LordManiMani took the strategy of avoiding the spotlight by lurking, but he missed two Nights’ worth of action, and without the Janitored kill, he had to make up a claim, ultimately leading to his lynch. I think if he had killed a townie instead of DarthPokey, he could have focused the lynch towards the mafia a bit longer. |
DarthPokey: You are the Blue Gloves, a pair of agents with blue gloves who are looking for River Tam on the Serenity. As the Mafia Tracker/Hitman, you have special equipment that give you the edge on finding people and eliminating any obstacles. During the Night, you may track one player, learning their target for the Night, if any. If you perform the Mafia kill, you may use a sonic device that bypasses any doctoring/armor. This special kill may not be used on consecutive Nights and can only be used twice. You can perform a normal kill, if you choose. If you must claim, the character Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne is available. You win when the Mafia outnumbers the Town and any threats, including River, have been eliminated. The mafia board is here: alliancemafia.proboards.com | Comments: There wasn’t a real clear Godfather in the mafia, but I assigned it to this role. The Tracker role was probably not the best choice of abilities, but he did use it to find out that GG was the roleblocker, and it fit the character(s). Hitman, however, was the more useful role, and the mafia used it to kill Doc by bypassing robbie’s protection. DP wasn’t the most active player, but with the Wash claim I think he could have lasted a lot longer if he hadn’t been sniped by LMM. |
NPR: You are The Operative, an agent of the Alliance tasked with finding River Tam on the Serenity. As the Mafia Roleblocker/Armor, you have been highly trained to disable opponents in combat. During the Night, you may block one player from using their Night action. If you perform the Mafia kill, you will don armor that will protect you from any kills that Night. If you must claim, the character Tracey Smith is available. You win when the Mafia outnumbers the Town and any threats, including River, have been eliminated. The mafia board is here: alliancemafia.proboards.com | Comments: NPR had a standard mafia role, but not one that could be safely claimed. NPR really had bad luck this game, he got found by Doc, and blocked and killed by GG. He also was bent on getting rid of Puppyduck, which ultimately led to him blocking PD instead of GG. He could also have survived by performing the kill himself, which would have given him the armor, and also would have kept him safe from LMM’s kills for the remainder of the game. |
Jamis: You are Jubal Early, a bounty hunter searching for River Tam aboard the Serenity. As the Mafia Silencer, you are hoping to deliver River to the Alliance in return for a bounty. During the Night, you may capture another player, limiting them to one post the following Day (they may still vote in that one post). If your captive is the target of the Mafia’s Night kill, you will hide their body, keeping their name from being revealed the following morning (maximum of two Janitorings). If you capture River Tam, you will be able to join the Mafia. PM me with your night action choice. If you must claim, the character Fess Higgins is available, but it might be better to use a Janitored claim. You win when the Mafia outnumbers the Town and any threats, including River, have been eliminated. | Comments: I wasn’t really sure whether I would include Jubal in the mafia or not, but as a private bounty hunter, I felt he fit the .5 status and he would join if he ever kidnapped River successfully. I wanted to try the .5 Janitor role too, so I made it so that if the person he silenced was killed, they would be Janitored, but that never happened (it would have if the mafia had killed who they blocked, twice). Jamis, like NPR, had really bad luck, and got caught red-handed twice, thanks to blrasmu hiding behind CP. Jamis almost joined the mafia too, but he would still have probably been lynched the next day anyways. |
Worthy Protoplasm: You are Lawrence Dobson, an undercover Alliance agent aboard the Serenity. As the Mafia Spy/Message Sender, you are investigating the crew in order to hopefully find River Tam and contact the Alliance with information. During the Night, you may investigate one player and find out their character name. Also, you may send a 5-word message to the player of your choice each Night. If you successfully reveal River’s or Simon’s identity to the Mafia first, you will be able to join them. PM me with your night action choice. If you must claim, the character Shepherd Derrial Book is available. You win when the Mafia outnumbers the Town and any threats, including River, have been eliminated. | Comments: This role was the mafia’s detective, and I wanted to try the whole Spy message system to see how that went, since it also fit with the character role. WP had a good fake claim with a detective ability, message ability, and Book (which I think could have fit both), but he investigated the mafia twice, and most people claimed their roles early on, so he didn’t really have any proof. He just sent the messages to whomever he investigated, rather than to the mafia like I had hoped the role would be used. After blrasmu claimed his role as River, WP lost his chance of joining the mafia, but soon after he was the only mafioso left, so he gained the kill. |
