Just got back. All I have to say is... THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST MOVIE EVERYONE GO SEE IT.
All the changes from the books were very well done, Todd and Katayanagi's fight bits were amazing, I think those parts were better than the books, just throwing that out there.
Acting was amazing, this was the first Michael Cera movie I had ever seen, so I thought he did great, but I have to say, Mark Webber as Stills further cements him as my favorite character ever.
Also one last thing, even if by some stretch of the imagination you hated this movie, the score and music are the best I've heard in a movie. Beck, Broken Social Scene, and Metric did a great job with Sex Bob-omb, Crash 'N the Boys, and The Clash at Demonhead's music, and Nigel Godrich's chiptune/orchestral score is amazing.
In short, be like Knives. Enjoy the movie. E: Ahaha, new page B)

Super excellent yummy sauce! $2.40? That's not enough enough for the ride home. Edit: Friday box office results show the movie isn't doing too well.

Yeah, I noticed that. At least it did better than Inception for the weekend, but then again, Inception's been out for a while.
I'm actually probably going to go see it again at some point within the week. Can't wait.

Man. That was so much better than I thought it'd be.
I'm planning to watch it again with friends (as I watched it with my bro, cousin, and one friend).

I just paid full price to see it a second time. I have NEVER payed full price to see a movie a second time. I rarely pay to see a movie once between all the illegal downloading and sneaking into theaters I do. This movie is just too good.

Yeah, there were like 10 people in the theater besides my two friends and I and none of them were laughing all that hard but my friends and I were cracking up. A gelato isn't vegan? It's milk and eggs b****.

TFP's fun theater story:
I went to see it, and the audience members were as follows:
1. Me 2. My sister 3. A random friend of my sister's that we weren't expecting 4. Some guy. 5. Said guy's girlfriend.. and, dead serious 6. Some old lady, must have been like 80. She had a walker. 7. Said old lady's friend, also with a walker.
Those two ladies laughed at every. single. video game reference. My sister said they were Michael Cera's grandparents. Also this was after we saw a giant parade of people over 50 leaving Eat Pray Love. Like they just. kept. coming. out. of. the. theater.
(also seeing it again this weekend.)

It's kinda hard for me to believe this movie isn't doing well. The first time I went the movie theater was relatively full for a showing at 1:30, even though it was opening day. I went on a Monday during dinner time, and the theater was full again. Both times I've left the theater I've heard nothing but praises for the film. Maybe my local area just has a cooler demographic. This is my analysis of the Scott/Ramona relationship: Scott and Ramona did have a hollow relationship which contributed to the theme of the movie. Scott is shown to have a sucky history with women that includes his treatment of Kim and Knives. Scott only fights Ramona's evil exes because he thinks Ramona was hot, not because her life is being ruined by the Evil League. Notice how whiney he becomes after almost losing to the super vegan boyfriend (right before and after the Roxy fight). It was during the Roxy fight that Ramona acknowledges how he feels and steps up to protect Scott against the League who is really after HIM, but Scott doesn't really care and continues being a jerk.
In the end he learns what a prat he is to the women in his life, and he and Ramona start over. Edit: On Scott Pilgrim's imdb page, the movie's popularity tracking has exploded the past couple of days. Hopefully, people are catching on to how good this movie is through strong word of mouth. The movie's average user score has also been climbing ever since release. I dont think I've ever seen that happen.

Was working on the mafia game last night, and that apparently greatly affected my mental state. Had a dream in which I created two new SP characters with their own personalities and where they fit into the stories--like from an in-story perspective. One was a guy who could always know how Scott's hair should look, and another was a guy who was the biggest fan of Scott's fighting and would always get super excited whenever his favorite moves were used... Didn't realize until after I woke up that I had made up the characters.

Oh, I forgot to post that I saw it. Haha, it was a fun parody, but it was definitely not better than Inception. It's the kind of movie that you go to see with your other nerd friends, but I went alone, so that might have been it. Overall, a good movie that I'd go see again.

"Definitely not better than Inception"? But... but... Unlike Inception, I can actually watch SP again. Inception... I don't know, the effects were good and stuff but I felt it was lacking something important.
I also thought it moved a little slowly... but that's just me.

At least in SP the characters weren't flat. I swear, the characters that seemed the most interesting in Inception got the least screen time. Also my theater is really awesome and sells the movie posters after they're done with them. Guess who's getting the Scott Pilgrim movie poster

I guess we shouldn't be comparing comedies and dramas lol, but I thought Inception had a much better story.
Anyways, I liked the movie, it was fun, but some of it was kinda random. I mean, why would Vegan ex drink coffee offered to him by Pilgrim? Especially if he knew his powers were derived from his Veganism? Kinda dumb, IMO. There are probably a lot of other things, but yeah, I think it might have been over-hyped. Maybe I should just go see it again.

The Vegan was over confident. He could mind read Scott's thoughts so he was pretty sure he new what he was doing. It's like when evil geniuses do their monologues.
And poop on anyone who thinks that every side character has to have some sort of stupid, tacked on thing about them. This is actually something I really liked about Inception: the characters didn't need to be typecast, token characters. They were who they were to the story, and they served their purpose to the mission. With a story with as much explication as Inception, we shouldn't need for the characters themselves to be explained to us either.
And I like Scott Pilgrim is better than Inception.

If he could read thoughts, wouldn't he know that it wasn't vegan? Did he want to break the code or something?

He just thought really hard about putting the half and half in the other cup.

Hey, I never said anything about tacked-on backstories. It would just have been nicer to have seen more of people like Yusuf and Arthur, and less of Captain Angry Face and Juno.
Also I don't see why you're questioning it. It's a movie based around video games (kind of). Why does Mario jump on sentient mushrooms? Why does Psycho Mantis read your memory card?
Also the thing about Todd is that he thinks he's above the law because of the fact that he's a rock star. Those first two infractions weren't because someone thought really hard about it. He probably didn't think anything would happen, since he also asked about 3 strikes.

Just because something is silly doesn't mean you shouldn't question it. Idk, too much randomness doesn't settle well for me.
So which is it? Does he know it's non-vegan and doesn't care, or does he not know because Scott tricks him?

Scott. Tricks. The. Vegan.

Remind me to keep raocow away from you.
Truthfully, I think it's a little of both. He tricks Todd by thinking about putting the soy in the cup but putting half-and-half, and then he thinks he's okay because he's a rock star, so the vegan police can't do anything with him.
Plus, it's at least a better explanation than the book gives.

I've only read the graphic novels so far, and I don't think the movie will be released here at all. So far I enjoyed reading all of them, and someday I will own this movie on DVD.
