I liked both of Nolan's Batman movies way better then Ironman. I'd give Ironman 2.5/5 stars, Begins 4/5 and Dark Knight 4.5/5

2.5? That's ridiculous. Iron Man was great. I'd give it at least a 4/5, and Batman Begins probably 3.5.

I see why people like it, but I had a lot of problems with the movie. The terrorist cave scene was just ridiculous. Not an ounce of credibility there. There wasn't any actual character drama in the movie after the first twenty minutes when Stark realizes weapons are bad. And the whole movie is him building his suit and killing (random) terrorists, which is cool dont get me wrong, but there's no real substance to it. Besides, I found the action scenes disappointing and poorly choreographed, but I do think it was a decent first try from the director. The main villain was lacking as well. So in the end all the movie had for me was Stark's one liners. Decent, slightly enjoyable, but nothing great and nothing original. 2.5/5 with 2/5 being mediocre. Edit: Expect the second movie to be better, though I am sad to see it capitalizing on TDK by going into a darker tone. (so I've heard) Double edit: One of my favorite "reviewer's" take on Iron Man. Maybe you'll side more with her opinion. valeriewriter.wordpress.com/2008/10/06/review-iron-man-dvd/

Im on the boat with ernie here. 2.5 is ludicrous for iron man, it had great action, and personally, i loved the plot because i can remember it from the nights i read iron man comics as a kid. And just a question, what was so bad about the cave scene?

That was a poor review, did she even watch the movie? Or maybe she was trying to be silly... Either way, I thought the cave part was great. Credible? Maybe not. Awesome? Very yes. I agree that the final villain wasn't great, hopefully the one in the next one is better. Isn't Scarlett Johanssen supposed to be in it?

I found the plot to be pretty weak, mainly due to a lame villain. But right now I cant remember why Pepper went and downloaded bald guy's information from his computer. What was she even doing in his office? Depending on what happened there one of my arguments against the movie may or may not be valid.
Oh, the cave scene. Those are by far the stupidest terrorists in the middle east. If you're going to kidnap someone why blow up the entire caravan? Stark only got out of there by luck with all those bullets and missiles flying around. They had no idea what they were doing as evident by Stark's heart getting impaled by bits of metal. Then there was the middle eastern side kick. "When we get out of here, I'll see my family again!" That was eye rolling bad, predictable, and stupid. He's got a pretty bleak view on life if he's already guessing he's going to die attempting to escape. The terrorists again show their stupidity by not monitoring Stark's work. You give a genius engineer all the stuff he needs to build a highly advanced missile, and you dont bother to check up on it every now and then? It would have taken a ten second sweep of the room to know he's not building what you told him to. Not to mention giving a weapon's expert access to that stuff is just asking for him to kill you.
And another thing that annoyed me! When Iron Man goes back to the middle east to fight those terrorists was it really necessary to show the kid running up to his father, thus provoking the terrorists' rage? That felt emotionally manipulative and pretty shallow at that. Do we really need another excuse for Iron Man to kill terrorists? As if them harming some kid who loves his father in a Hallmark moment was so bad in comparison to the stuff they're already doing.
Edit: Scarlett is in the next movie. Dont know what role though. Should be cool.

Nevertheless, Iron Man still has the AWESOME. I'd much rather have the Iron Man suit, I can just imagine blowing down terrorists with my hands, and flying through the air at superspeeds.

I absolutely loved the movie. I seen it three times at the theatres. HEY, you leave Yinsen alone Common. That man has been through enough without you rolling your beady little eys at him!

Rorschach - 11 Spider-Man - 20 Nightcrawler - 19 Iron Man - 18 (-2) Yeah, I guess its all preference. I just wasn't all that impressed. 2.5 for Iron Man DVD is still a decent score coming from me. And I loved her The Watchmen review a lot more.
