"Good job, you routed out the last of the low-lives in your group. You, along with your dead comrades, have been deemed worthy to be reincarnated"
Everyone breathes a sigh of relief, and makes their way onto the next stage of their soul's journey....
~
Erniewan was the Town Jack-of-All-Trades. Monstrman was Bobbin Threadbare. GameGuy was Quote. TML was Sir Arthur. XX Stone was the Town Creeper.
Congrats to the town, you guys played pretty well. I think this game worked fairly well, though I think the way everyone progressively got Karma favored the town a little more than I anticipated. Activity was fairly good this game too, other than the modkill (and DP had a legitimate excuse for why he wasn't able to post), so good job guys.
More notes and role pms will come soon.

Haha, yes! I'm still confused about the 3 kills, but at least I feel like I helped out this game. Thank goodness Robbie was the last one, I was so confused about who I would've killed the next night.

Now I can finally post, my head was a washing machine during day 3 when you guys were trying to figure out how Blras died. It was me, I got to him before Ernie got to me.

Huh. I really would have thought you were the indy, gg. Good game, all. Town was 2 for 3 on the lynches, but we had all the right suspects.

I thought you were the indy, Monstr. I thought it would be pretty interesting to have an indy role that stole abilities from dead people and gradually grew stronger. That's why I was worried about keeping you alive, you could've taken FF's role and easily killed one of us using his ability.

Haha, looks like I was being overly cautious again. Sorry about that.
I was suspicious of all the mafia on Day 1. Voted two of them and detected the other one!
And sorry for killing you, Fatal. But you really weren't the Judge, per se, so I still feel kinda justified...

And I could NOT figure out who was the indie! I lied about having armor btw, so I could possibly make another detection (I could reuse abilities, but it cost 1 more karma than before) or I could have blocked someone, or a few other things.

You also weren't the JoaT, per se. IIRC, you had more abilities than the standard four. Definitely a lot of unique roles in this game, I'll certainly look forward to any future games Squeege hosts (Cave Story mafia please?)

It's instant karma really, I killed VGA, who turned out town, so you killed me, but not before I was able to take down Blras, who turned out to be scum.

Nice shot, fatal. I hereby steal mod's noodles and bequeath them unto you.
Also I'm glad I was at least 2 for 3 on the scum...surprised I was wrong about robbie, though. Good job staying hidden!

Before I start with the roles, I should explain how starting Karma was determined. The spread was: Mafia1 - 5 Karma Mafia2 - 6 Karma Mafia3 - 7 Karma Town1 - 3 Karma Town2 - 3 Karma Town3 - 4 Karma Town4 - 4 Karma Town5 - 4 Karma Town6 - 6 Karma Town7 - 6 Karma Town8 - 7 Karma Town9 - 8 Karma These were then randomly distributed, resulting in: Mafia Assassin - 5 Mafia Trixie - 7 Mafia Spy - 6 Town Creeper - 3 Town Aid - 3 Town Quote - 4 Town Colonel Sanders - 4 Town Judge - 4 Town Spiritualist - 6 Town King Arthur - 6 Town Jack of all Trades - 7 Town Bobbin Threadbare - 8 I also tried to make the roles roughly balanced, so that any one player getting modkilled didn't effect things too badly, and Karma gave a pretty good indication of the player's power. So effectively, the "power roles" were the players with more Karma. I think I could've done better in this respect, as I'll mention later... but that was my original idea. Town Roles:
The Colonel was, more or less, the doctor of the game. He was also one of the roles that intentionally sounded a little fake; like how he had the ability that did nothing (yeah, occasionally I'm a bit of a bastard mod), and none of his abilities were both town and confirmable. But he was still a doc of sorts, and the busdriver ability could potentially be very useful.
In retrospect, this role may have been a little on the powerful side, especially if the player happened to get a lot of Karma (which he did this game). I probably should've not allowed him to reuse abilities, but it ended up not mattering anyway. Either that, or I should've given him 1 or two less abilities.
Basically a backup role, which could use higher level abilities once they have more Karma. Most roles had two abilities, a weaker, low thread ability, and a stronger, high thread ability. Monstr got RBed N1 though, and the game ended so quickly that he didn't get a chance to use any abilities.
And yeah, Bobbin Threadbare is the main character from Loom, which was a really good old school LucasArts point-and-click adventure game. I didn't mention what game/media characters were from, probably because I was really lazy.
An Executive type role. The autolynch ability was somewhat meant to be a "big red button" that shouldn't be used unless really needed. This role was somewhat weaker than others, but had the potentially to be quite good in the endgame, or on a particularly good player. Fatal did a pretty good job on killing Blras; definitely a good target to kill. Just somewhat unfortunate that he was killed the same night, adding to the town's confusion.
Also, my reasoning for naming it a "Judge" was that he was an authoritative figure, giving the ability to decide the fate of players. I didn't give him the traditional "pardon" ability because I don't like that ability: 90% of the time it's just used as a way to confirm yourself as town, rather than actually saving someone from a lynch, and this setup was already running the risk of having too many confirmable players. Gotta be careful with assuming the mod thinks of names the same way you do.
This role was somewhat of a favorite of mine, just because of the flavor. Was the Armor/Protective/PGA type role. The mafia attacked TML N1, resulting in his armor getting destroyed, and he almost got it back, due to getting some Karma from the DP modkill. The PGA ability had the potential to be swingy... but I just liked the flavor so much that I couldn't resist putting it in.
And yeah, this is Arthur from Super Ghouls and Ghosts.
This role got very good with a lot of Karma, but didn't have much that was useful before then. The Revive is extremely powerful, but also the highest Karma ability on the town side (I believe). This role was somewhat meant to work in conjunction with the Town Aid, as a high risk/reward type deal, but unfortunately DP's compy was indisposed.
Basically the town info role, with the option for a protective ability if they got enough Karma. I was surprised that everyone backed off him when he claimed; the role was meant to sound sorta like a scum role (in fact, Robbie's role was very similar to XX's). And XX didn't get any useful results, N1 just due to bad luck, and N2 due to being RBed (and his target dying anyway).
On Day 2, the weapon shop opened up, allowing him to pick a gun every game Day. He also got a +2 weapon capsule N1 (allowing him to add 2 power to the gun of his choice), due to him getting some Karma from D1 and from DP.
The role was sort of a RBer/JoATish thing, as most of his guns were disruptive abilities. I actually made this role at the last minute, but I thought it was a good fit for this game: the whole Karma thing lent itself to guns powering up. He was never targeted, so he was never powered down.
And yes, a Cave Story game would be pretty sweet.
Very similar to Thor in Avengers... which Kat also was (and I swear that I did these randomly, and that I came up with this role before Avengers started). As mentioned earlier, was intended to help out roles that got especially powerful with more Karma. I'm still trying to decide whether I really should have put in the vitalize ability: the role already got more powerful with more Karma.

Yeah, soft, I still think it's really lame that you took the detect personally. Because honestly? It sounds like you want a free pass from your boyfriend when you're scum and he isn't. If that's true, you need to seriously rethink why you're playing. I know I'd be offended if I got such a pass. I also know that I've been in relationships in which my partner expected me to defend them if they were wagoned, and that was a large contributing factor in ending said relationships.

You also shouldn't have messaged me (or any other player) about it. The mod, maybe. A non-player, maybe. Let it all out after the game's over, preferred. That's the other main reason I found all that so, well, lame. By complaining to me about it, you basically confirmed yourself to me as scum. And the only reason you weren't modkilled over it is because you were trying to get modkilled on purpose (which is also lame!)

I think you were just a little jumpy when I voted you. A triple post (all with one-liners) with two of which hastily defending yourself was a little suspicious, and apparently fatalfiend thought so as well.

How would you guys say I played? I wanna know what I should improve on. I've been very open with my thoughts on your playstyle, but I do believe the best advice I can give is that your greatest strength was finally getting up and placing a vote on someone; your greatest weakness is your seemingly bouncy focus, ranging from defense to attack to neutrality in quick succession. Such as, when under the gun, if you defend yourself, the best thing you can do is not to immediately spin it into an attack on a third party. It makes you think that you're dodging blame.
