RULES: Most of you know the rules by now but it looks like we have some new players so here they are! 1. Do not communicate outside the game unless permitted by your role. 2. Do not edit or delete your posts. 3. Bold your votes/color them red4. Never quote PMs from me. 5. After you die, you may only make one ‘goodbye’ post, which must not reveal anything about the game. 6. Also when sending you night actions title your pm with you character name/the night. For example "Bill's hat - night 1" This makes my life a lot easier.

My knowledge of mafia only works on IRC, however I would assume that the best strategy here is to work with the numbers first. We know how many players there are, so 1/4 to 1/3 are mafia.. we can further assume that the mafia is the informed minority, and that the townsfolk are the uninformed majority. So, considering the low volume of posts, one would think it unwise to vote today. Since we lack a complete picture of everyone present. THIS GUY seems to know his stuff. That is my summary of what is going on. XX out... for now.

FoS... hmmm I think I need a crash course on forum mafia, anyone have such a thing? My knowledge of mafia only works on IRC, however I would assume that the best strategy here is to work with the numbers first. We know how many players there are, so 1/4 to 1/3 are mafia.. we can further assume that the mafia is the informed minority, and that the townsfolk are the uninformed majority. So, considering the low volume of posts, one would think it unwise to vote today. Since we lack a complete picture of everyone present. But what the hell, Im a noob in forum mafia. so advise me if Im getting something wrong here I say again, lynches are very helpful in gathering suspicion, especially on D1. If we lynch Player X, and they flipped town, we could gather suspicions based on who was really pushing to lynch that one person. If player X flipped mafia, then we gather suspicions on A) who were hesitant to vote for said person, and B) gather suspicions from people who didn't votye at all, especially if they were actively posting

Soft claims aren't working in a game like this. Nintendo Mafia, maybe, because there is kind of a natural division, but not here.

I'm not personally gonna vote just yet, because I don't see anyone actually being scummy (as far as I can tell).

Is it because claiming what character your hat is for is too specific or?

I don't know enough about TF2 hats to suggest a soft claim division, or to rule on it. How many hats are there total, and how many per character/class (or can hats be used for multiple characters)?

There are lots of hats for each class and some can be used for all of them.

175 Hats and Miscs also list of hats that can't get unusual effects
Scout: Hatless, The Superfan, Essential Accesories, Hero's Tail, Sign of a Wolf's School, Planeswaler Goggles, Flip-Flops, Lucky Number 42
Soldier: Gentle Manne Service Medal, Lumbricus Lid, Hero's Hachimaki, Lord Cockswain's Novelty Mutton Chops and Pipe, and Stahlhelm
Pyro: Whiskered Gentleman, Foster's Facade, Stockbroker's Scarf, Sight for Sore Eyes
Demoman: Dangeresque, Too?, Mask of The Shaman
HWG: Cadaver's Cranium, Dealer's Visor, Pocket Medic, Big Steel Jaw of Summer Fun, Pilotka, Purity Fist (I assume it's not unusual obtainable since it's a misc although some misc's can obtain it)
Engineer: Hatless, Teddy Roosebelt, Googly Gazer, Praerie Heel Biters, Pip-Boy 3000, Wingstick
Medic: Physician's Procedure Mask, Planeswalker Helm
Sniper: Hatless
Spy: Camera Beard, Made Man, Rouge's Col Roule
I only posted this be cause I am assuming that Unusual hat's are the mafia and I am gonna assume that D_P wouldn't put these in the game so we couldn't just give ourselves an easy claim.

We could always soft claim the class, I mean as Flint just listed there are a LOT of hats/miscs.
Then again a softclaim might give away too much. Like the Medic, I'm pretty sure one of the medic hats would be the doctor.
Also in regards to Day One lynches, we don't necessarily need a lynch. Just votes.

As I said I'm really unfamiliar with TF2 hats so stop me if I'm getting anything wrong, but from what I read on that link I got the impression that the "Unusual" hat quality was random - thus the vast majority of hats could potentially be Unusual. I'm not really sure how it would help to softclaim in that case.

Yes waehofen the quality is random and every time you unbox a crate you have a small chance (Around 1%) to unbox an unusual hat and any of the hats I did not list in the post above can be unusual

So are specific hats 'unusual', or can any hat be 'unusual' (like legendary vs. shiny Pokemon).

I'm pretty sure any hat is unusual
I'm indifferent on a softclaim, but in this game I just don't see a way to do it without claiming more than you need to.
be back with leads later

What we could potentially do, to allow for doctors/potential power role to be hidden, but still to narrow down the field and gain some information, is to gather the classes into groups of classes, with roughly the same amount of hats in each group. And then claim a group.

Well if I had to guess I'd say since the Spy, Sniper, and Medic are support classes, Then The Sniper/Spy hat could be Vig/Detective? and the Medic hat could be the Doctor (and by could I mean is VERY likely)

well that wouldn't helm since most pre mannconomy hats are Team colored and if someone claimed green then they would likely be The Brain Slug/Triboniophorus Tyrannus (I am assuming most of the hats are pre-mannconomy since the game was made pre-mannconomy and D_P added the Unusual Mafia after the update as an addition)

I was joking.
I guess soft-claiming just won't really work in this game.

I have no idea what you are talking about, Doc.
Also grouping them is a good idea, if we have an idea what a class might be (like Medic), we should group them with less obvious/less powerful classes so that the mafia can't figure out which group to kill (like don't group Medic with the Spy).

I personally don't see why we're trying to find townie hats. We should be looking for scum hats. And Flint, you kinda just posted a list for the mafia to pick from to fake claim.
